Thomas Jensen
PhD Student in European Politics at ETH Zürich
I study decision making in the European Union, with a focus on voting in the Council of Ministers, using mathematics, statistics and programming to gain a deeper insight into the dynamics of decision making in political bodies.
I maintain a blog named PolStat in which I detail my experiences in doing a PhD within political science and working with the tools of the trade, in my case SAS, R, Python and LaTeX. Essentially the blog is a place for me to "think out loud" about issues regarding my research and methods within the social sciences in general. It is also a place where I can post small code snippets and examples that I find useful, as I tend to forget these things and subsequently spend many hours on google searching for that one bit of code I saw two years ago.
Besides my blog I also maintain my teaching slides, working papers, articles, and other bits and pieces from my PhD, that I think people might find interesting, on the site. I hope you will visit.
